Natural Relief from Psoriasis
Lucknow: Naturopathy and other alternative therapies appear to be establishing their efficacy in treatment of psoriasis, as expressed by a few patients who were treated at the department of naturopathy and alternative therapy, Vivekanand Polyclinic.
“I can now move out freely, with no hesitation or embarrassment. Now even my grandchildren play with me. Life for me has changed entirely”, said 52 years-old Satyapraksh a Psoriasis patient.
Similar feeling of happiness was shared by Gudiya, Vinay Kumar and Shyam Gupta.They shared their experience at a press conference organised by the HoD of the department, Dr. Pankaj Bharti on Friday. “Psoriasis is an incurable medical condition according to the modern medical science. In this disease immune system of the body is disturbed so it is called and auto-immune disease”, said Dr. Bharti.
He added that in this disease there are well defined red patces with white scales that appear on scrubbing. The patches may be found on any part of the body, he said.
The disease is of many types. Itching is so intense that it becomes difficult for the patient to cope up with his routine life. Prolonged disease may lead to server depression also, added Dr. Bharti.
Studies have proved that the disease is caused by faulty feeding and living which disturbs the alkali and acid balance in the body and this imbalance disrupts the immune system.
The disease could be either genetic or non-genetic.
“If in case it is genetic then care has to be taken for the entire life but if it is not genetic then once cured there are no chances of the disease relapsing. However, 41 per cent of the psoriatic patients have family history. We not only provide clinical treatment to such people but also physiological treatment as the disease grows with stress.
“I have been suffering from this disease for past 20 years but I am feeling better after getting a treatment at the Vivekanad polyclinic”, said Satyaprakash.
Dr. Bharti said that naturopathy have porved their efficacy in treating the illness.
Spinal treatment along with certain pranayams like Bhastrika Kapalbhati and Anulom-vilom have brought much relief to the patient, helping in the treatment.
